Contest FAQs
Validated Contests
What's the difference between a validated contest and a self-reported contest?
Validated contests take data from your device that’s connected/linked/synced to your Sonic Boom Wellness account. Self-reported data is reported by the member within the contest. Both contests are just as fun!
Why are my steps showing as 0 in the contest when I can see them showing up in my Sonic Boom account?
In order for those hard-earned steps to show in the contest, you must sync/offload your data. If you see your steps on the graph, then give the contest 1-2 hours to update the data. Contests update data 1-2 hours after sync.
I have a Fitbit. How do I sync/offload my steps to the contest?
- First, open the Fitbit app on your phone and double check you see your steps on the “Today” page.
- Second, close Fitbit and open the Sonic Boom Wellness app.
- Opening the Fitbit app “forces” your steps over to your Sonic Boom account, and they will now show on the step graph.
- Tap/click the heart icon in the upper right to see the step graph to confirm the sync.
Please keep in mind that it will take about 1-2 hours for any newly synced data to feed into a contest, and a solid wi-fi or cell connection helps ensure the sync can complete.
I have an Apple Device. How do I sync my steps to the contest?
For us to receive data from the Apple Health app/Apple Watch, frequent syncs/offloads need to happen to the Sonic Boom Wellness app.
- Head to the Apple App Store to make sure that your Sonic Boom Wellness app is updated to the latest version. (If you are unsure, you can also update your app by deleting and re-installing it.)
- Open your Apple Health app and make sure you can see your steps there.
- Open your Sonic Boom Wellness app.
- Opening the Apple Health app “forces” your steps over to your Sonic Boom account, and they will now show on the step graph.
- Tap/click the heart icon in the upper right to see the step graph to confirm the sync.
- If you do not see your steps populate right away, swipe up to force-close the app, re-open it, and click on the heart icon.
Please keep in mind that it will take about 1-2 hours for any newly synced data to feed into a contest, and a solid wi-fi or cell connection helps ensure the sync can complete.
I have a Garmin. How do I sync my steps to the contest?
- First, you will want to find and open the Garmin Connect app.
- At the top right of the screen, you will see a “Refresh” button.
- Tap “Refresh” to “force” your data to sync with the Sonic Boom Wellness app.
- Open your Sonic Boom Wellness app.
- Opening the Garmin app “forces” your steps over to your Sonic Boom account, and they will now show on the step graph.
- Tap/click the heart icon in the upper right to see the step graph to confirm the sync.
Please keep in mind that it will take about 1-2 hours for any newly synced data to feed into a contest, and a solid wi-fi or cell connection helps ensure the sync can complete.
Do I have to sync my steps to the contest daily?
You don’t have to, but in order to have the most up-to-date data, we recommend you sync your steps daily.
I am in last place in the contest and my steps are showing 0, but my Apple Watch is showing my steps activity. Why are my steps not syncing?
This often happens if you just synced multiple days of activity at once, which brings all your steps for the missing days over to our system. Please allow 1-2 hours for your steps to update in the contest, as contest data does take longer to update than the standard steps graph in your Sonic Boom account. Don’t worry — your steps will count!
My steps have not been updated for the past 7 days. Why does it show the last 7 days as blank with no steps when my device shows steps?
Good question! When the contest is in the process of updating, you will see a “blank” progress log. Once the contest is updated, your steps data will repopulate with the most up-to-date information.
SELF-REPORTED
I forgot to self-report my activity the last couple of days of the Contest. Can I still log those activities?
Yes! There is a 7-day lookback period, which means you can report/update activity up to 1 week ago.
I joined the contest and forgot about it. Is it too late to self-report?
No, it’s not too late. If the contest has not closed, you can log data. However, you will be limited to that 7-day window. For example, if you join a contest 13 days after the start date, you will be able to record activity from day 6 onward.
